After earning dual certification in Elementary and Special Education from Slippery Rock University Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania in and completing a short stint teaching in Mexico City, Ryan went on to teach in a variety of different educational settings, ranging from K-5 Emotional and Behavioral Intensive Intervention to 4th Grade general education to 8th Grade inclusion.
He is thrilled to be joining the ArtSpace team for school year. When not teaching, Ryan enjoys reading, traveling, making and enjoying art and music, and spending time with his wife, Allison, and their animals.
Elise graduated from Appalachian State Cum Laude. She played varsity Field Hockey and taught snow skiing and snow boarding throughout her college career.
Elise completed prerequisite course work for veterinary school in Charleston, South Carolina. She joined the ArtSpace staff in Elise was a stay at home mom for several years. While at home she started a mini-farm where she raised rabbits, chickens, and pigs. Evangeline earned a B. T in Special Education from Western Carolina.
She had the privilege of teaching special education, grades K-5, for Henderson County public schools. When not focused on teaching, she loves to get lost in a great book, take the unexpected adventure, attempts to conquer her garden and enjoys few things better than sitting around a firepit on a cool night with friends and family. Ali holds a B. She has been an educator for 13 years. She loves animals of all kinds, especially dogs, and spends her time gardening, hiking, nature, poetry, and yoga.
Annabell was ArtSpace teacher of the year for the school year. She enjoys hiking, painting, dancing, and gardening with her son Coltrane. She also possesses Montessori certification for 1st-3rd grades. Heidi is the parent of two ArtSpace alumni. In her spare time, Heidi enjoys gardening, knitting, and contra dancing. Melissa joined our staff in the school year. Before coming to ArtSpace, she taught third grade for 8 years at Brevard Elementary where she was Teacher of the Year in Melissa has earned her M.
In her free time Melissa enjoys creating all kinds of things mostly knitting and sewing, but also jewelry, drawings, paper crafts, and visual design pieces. She also tremendously enjoys reading, kickboxing, and hiking.She has collaborated with international artists across generations to develop projects throughout the Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America.

Richard also has experience lecturing and tutoring into photographic history and theory subjects at the University of Technology Sydney. She has worked across a breadth of non-profit and independent arts organisations with a focus on advocacy, collaboration, exchange and support for artists locally, nationally and internationally. They bring a wide range of skills to management, fundraising and day-to-day operations.
Each director is appointed for a four-year fixed-term, with the exception of two artist-appointed directors appointed for a two year-term who represent the interests of our key constituency of visual arts practitioners. In Artspace changed this policy to re-appoint both artist-appointed directors for an additional two-years.

Collaborating with the Fine Arts department she established the 1st Annual Art Expo, a night that celebrated all forms of art. She enjoyed the opportunity to learn a new language and being embraced by a different culture. Sarena is also in the process of completing her doctorate in Educational Leadership at Western Carolina University.

Hollis was voted Teacher of the Year at ArtSpace in Before working at ArtSpace, Ms. Hollis taught with Asheville City Schools as well as in the Chicago area. Hollis holds a B. Hollis loves hiking the mountains of Western North Carolina with her husband and two sons. She is an avid runner and will be completing her first half marathon this school year. Rob has worked as a behavioral facilitator in Virginia and Pennsylvania. Rob enjoys spending time with his wife, hiking and also plays professionally in a bluegrass band called Blue Wheel Drive that just released their first album. Meg has been a part of the ArtSpace family since Meg has recently submitted her work for National Board Teacher Certification.
In addition to K-5 general music classes, Meg serves as the director of the choral and instrumental ensembles and has taught private lessons through the AfterCare program.Kelley Lindquist is renowned for building Artspace Projects, Inc.
Since Mr. Nearly commercial tenants--including arts and cultural organizations, creative entrepreneurs, and small businesses--also benefit from below market rate spaces. Lindquist's 30 years of leadership advancing Artspace's inclusive work with culturally distinct and underserved communities.
Along with running Artspace's daily operations, Mr. Lindquist increasingly focuses his energy on restoring national confidence in America's creative communities, and he is much in demand as a consultant and speaker at national and international conferences.
Will Law joined Artspace in and has worked in property development, asset management, consulting, and financial management. As chief operating officer, Mr.
Recruited to Artspace in as the Communications Manager, Aiken has slowly shifted the Artspace brand to focus on multi-format storytelling with a deep desire to highlight the intersectionality of Artspace's diverse residential communities and partnerships nationwide. InAiken became the Director of Communications. She also became the Program Director for the Rafala Green Fellowship program, a two-year fellowship that promotes equity and inclusion in non-profit real-estate by training the next generation of POCI emerging leaders working at the intersection of arts, real-estate, and community development, funded by the Ford Foundation.
Outside of her formal roles at Artspace, Aiken is a practicing poet and a champion of anyone using their creative expression to make space in the world for positive change. Therese Harrah onboarded as the lead designer for Artspace inand became the Creative Director in While at the Weisman, she was awarded the E.
She is certified by I. Kim is a proactive, results-oriented, bilingual professional with solid experience in the finance and nonprofit fields. Her expertise spans project management, financial reporting, office management, and customer service.
Kim has more than 14 years of experience planning various types of events, and brings her eye for design and sense of style to each. She has planned, designed, and executed weddings, various private social events, and much more. She likes everything to be just right, even the small details, because they can make a huge difference in a special event. She is a dedicated professional who is not afraid to put in the extra time to make her client's event special. When Kim is not being a worker bee, she likes to spend time with family and friends, dance, and travel.
Wendy Holmes is curious about cities, and what makes them work well and equitably.
She has been a speaker at numerous national arts and urban affairs conferences, as well as a guest lecturer at the University of St. Thomas, Macalester College, and the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of the University of Minnesota.Heather began working at ArtSpace in as a Teacher Assistant, and has been teaching her own class since She taught seventh grade Language Arts for five years, before becoming the fifth grade Language Arts and Social Studies teacher.
Heather holds a B. InHeather completed a National Endowment for the Humanities training in Concord, Massachusettes, focusing on the Crossroads of a Revolution, where she gained expertise on the eve of the Revolutionary War.
Heather co-leads the GRITS program, where she fosters a love of science and builds community with girls in grades In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoys music, exploring the mountains, reading, and yoga. Clay is also involved in the ArtSpace extracurricular program as both a painting and pottery instructor.
Artspace Inspires Creative Energy
He earned his B. A professional entertainer, John enjoys performing in theatre and cabaret in the Asheville area. He also enjoys attending local theatre productions featuring former students, as well as hiking and reading. She enjoyed teaching 6th and 7th-grade math, science, and Latin before moving to ArtSpace to teach 6th-grade math and science. Kinsey has been a lover of the arts since childhood, acting in school theater productions, singing in choirs and ensembles, and taking part in dance classes and groups.
She and her husband have enjoyed living in the mountains of WNC, hiking, and camping with their three dogs, and enjoying food and fun in Asheville with friends. She is excited to be part of the amazing team at ArtSpace.
Ian holds a B. Over the past seven years he has worked in schools as a teacher, tutor, mentor, and college access coach. He joined the ArtSpace staff in Outside of school, he enjoys music, reading, and walking his dog along the French Broad River. She has taught kindergartners through high school seniors subjects including French, humanities, phonics, creative writing, and martial arts.

Megan earned her a bachelors in environmental science in Pennsylvania and a masters in teaching from Western Carolina University, and she is still loving and learning new things about math every day. Outside of school Megan is a big fan of backpacking, playing water polo, cooking, and making music.
Nick has worked in education for over 20 years. He holds a B. He enjoys painting, playing with his son, bike riding and racing, car racing, hiking, and time with his family. Marni joined the ArtSpace faculty in and was Teacher of the Year in She directed a camp in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and she also taught 6th grade at a charter school in New Mexico.

She has been involved with ArtSpace from its inception, first as a volunteer. Jane has been on staff at the school since She enjoys reading, hiking, and music. Darlene holds an M. She joined ArtSpace as a parent and volunteer in and joined the front office staff in She is passionate about health and wellness and shares this with the ArtSpace community through the wellness committee and the annual Health Fair.
She coordinates the ArtSpace garden growing flowers, herbs, the occasional vegetable and cultivating a love of plants and fresh healthy food with students. She is also an herbalist and currently serves on the board of the North Carolina Herb Association. Beth has been an ArtSpace parent since and joined the ArtSpace staff in She enjoys reading, crafting, swimming, and spending time with her husband and three daughters.
She earned a B. Thomas in Secondary Language Arts Education. Erin also studied photography, printmaking and art history at Marshall University. She enjoys reading, fun conversations and laughing, gardening, cooking and eating good foods, photography and spending time with her family. Michelle earned a Business Associate degree from Broward Community College with an added emphasis in psychology.
